I had some weird dash behavior during my last outing with my 2012 SR3 - the dash data would not show up intermittently. The dash would not lose power but all of the information went away - no tach, no speed, no temps - a bit concerning when out on hot laps. It was not happening in a specific situation on track - I mean not in a turn or under braking or accelerating just randomly during a session. It would stay off for a bit then magically come back on. I hope it is the old dead ECU battery causing the fault(which is being replaced this off season) but has anyone had this happen to them?
A flat ECU battery will not cause the issues that you are suffering, this is only for data logging and engine hours.
Sounds like the dash is loosing the datastream from the ECU for some reason.
Would be worth connecting to the dash and see if there are any updates available as this may help.
If not tracing back and pinning out the CAN High and Low wires from the back of the dash to chassis split connector to see if there are any problems there.
