2013 SR8 Fuek leak. Help, please.
Hello all!
I have a 2013 SR8 that I acquired not too long ago. I'm a very experienced full time (retired) professional racer. But at this juncture I know very little about these Radical cars. I haven't had the pleasure of running the car at the track yet due to other priorities. However from time to time I have to move it from one building to another. The car has developed an issue and I'm hopeful someone here may lend some guidance, please.
When I turn the master switch on the car leaks fuel. The leak is coming from somewhere down low. Not from anywhere at the top near the injectors. The car is temperamental to start. But once it fires off the fuel leak slowly stops.
Any thoughts?
Thank you all for considering.
Hi E.J. (@e-j-scott), is the fuel leaking in front of the firewall or behind it? If it is in front of the firewall it is either failed fuel cell or perhaps the fuel return line returning to the fuel cell or fuel tank has failed. Do you know if you have a fuel cell or an aluminum fuel tank? If it is leaking behind the fire wall (in the engine bay), it is likely a fuel hose failure or perhaps the fuel filter unit.
@CharleyH First, let me state that you're always helpful and a true gentleman. Thank you for that. You're a class act. Certainly the world could use more like you!
In all candor I don't know if the car has a cell or tank. I haven't dug into the car at all. But certainly I will.
That stated, I have to believe if it were a failed cell or tank it's leak all the time. It only leaks when the master switch is on so I feel this is a pressure related leak, not gravity. But, as I stated, the leak subsides after the car is running for a bit.
Thoughts please.....and THANK YOU in advance!
