Hi Friends,

We put a new larger aluminum tank into the car with new lines and fuel pump about two months ago. When we walk into the shop, it reeks of fuel and it seems to be coming from inside the car. The mechanic took the car apart and took the seat out and the O-ring seems to be in place around the fuel pump and the lines were tight.

Any suggestions on possible areas where fuel vapor or a leak could be coming from when it’s sitting under pressure or not?

One thought was the fuel pressure regulator there seems to be a little bit of a smell coming out of there, but when we turn the ignition on, there’s no fuel leak leaking. I have no idea when the last time the fuel filter was replaced, but the car runs perfectly normal.

Please don’t take this as anything other than something I’ve noticed in the past

i think it’s your alloy fuel tank

whenever we have put an alloy swirl pot etc into a rally car or race car they stink of fuel… never any leaks but they truely stink

if you can’t find any links I’d probably google to see if this might be your problem, I’m not saying it is but I would look into it
