My outboard CV boot tore a few weeks ago and while I was waiting for pricing on a Radical-specific replacement, I did some research.

Appears the SR4 shaft is about 21.8mm - 22mm in diameter and the CV joint housing diameter is about 81mm - 82mm in diameter.

I found a suggestion about EMPI having a great selection of CV boot in their catalog ( http://www.empius.com/ ) so I went there to do some digging through their 244 page (!!) catalog.

I found that boot 86-1052 is a pretty good match.  Drawing is below.

Small end diameter is 21.6mm and the large end diameter is 77.5mm.

JC Whitney sells them in the US for about $7 ( https://www.jcwhitney.com/details/EMPI/CV_Boot/EMP861052D.html ).

Ran it for one track day, seems to be fine so far.

I didn't try the boot on the inner CV joint but I think it should work fine.

Hope this helps others.

By the way, that boot fits a bunch of vehicles, including:

  • Outer joints for several Polaris ATVs
  • Outer joint for 95-99 Dodge Neon
  • Outer joint for a bunch of late 80s Ford Escorts (US models, I assume)
