Break and Throttle Overlap problem (?)
Hello,
I am new at Radical driving. I bought second hand (2021) SR1 for track days few weeks ago.
It's fantastic, it's a beast! 🙂
I have strong simracing background so the lef foot braking is natural fo me. And here is the problem(?).
Break and throttle overlap at simracing is a common technique.
Can we use that at SR1 or it can be a problem?
I had break issue at my last session. My break pedal's travel extended a lot during laps after few cool down laps went back to normal.
So I overheated it.
I check the telemetry at race studio and I realized I overlapped break and throttle a little (Brk 13.2 bar, TPS 22%).
Can this cause the overheated. Its very interesting because I tested the car at bigger track before (where I used the same technique) and I hadn't any issue with the break. Maybe the bigger track offer more time to cool down the break?
Should I forget the overlapped style?
Thank for your help and advise.
@kommo … as Dan mentioned on your Facebook post re the same question… first thing to do is bleed the brakes… and if your unsure when it was last done (should be done every 12 months at least) then completely replace the brake fluid and bleed them until each circuit has new fluid…. The pedal should be fairly hard when this has been done…. Not spongy
