Educate me on engines 3.7V6, 2.7V8, 3.0 V8
So I’ve just been reading up on different things about the different models of radicals and I actually was talking to somebody about their 2014 RXC, which has the 3.7 L Ford engine Naspirated. Then you have the SR8 with 2.7 RPE engine and then some of the RXC spyders with the 3.0 L obviously both of the Radical engines have frequent rebuild intervals, correct? The Ford engines that are in the older radicals and even the newer radicals do not have this, so why did they put a Ford engine in the car in 2014 and then started going to the frequent rebuild RPE engines?
Hi @nautoncall, As you mentioned the first RXC's came with a 3.7L Ford engine. Unfortunately the engine was a little underpowered for the car so Radical offered the 2.7L, 2.9L, and 3.0L V8 options because they had more power and were faster. The Radical V8 engines are great engines that make an amazing sound, but they do require a lot of maintenance. Then Radical started offering a twin turbo version of the Ford 3.5L Eco boost engine. Each engine has it's plusses and minuses, but most people prefer the 3.5L engines.
