GDU cooling
Hi all!
just adding a cooler to my GDU as it didn’t come with one from new. So far I have the pump and a 19 row cooler. I’m just about to order the rest of the bits but wanted to check a few things first...
1- the pipework running too and from the cooler is to be AN6???
2- the pipe work from the pump to the bottom of the GDU is to be AN10
3- the cooler I am using has AN10 fittings on it so I was going to use a reducing adaptor to take it down to AN6...any problems with this? Was worried the cooler internal pipe might have a too bigger girth and give me flow issues.
4- anyone have the thread size of the return pipe bung on the GDU and the Flow bottom bung That goes to the pump. I want to order the fittings to wind into the GDU so it takes an6 on top and An10 on the bottom.
i think that’s about all! Thanks everyone
Hi Sam. Unfortunately I won’t have access to my car for a couple of days. But if you don’t get the answer by then I can check it out.

Hi Sam (@m22ble), I had a chance to take a look at my car today and here is what I found. The hose that goes from the bottom of the cooler to the top of the GDU has -6 fittings on each side. The hose that goes from the top of the oil cooler has a -6 fitting on one side the cooler side, and a hose clamp on the pump side. The hose that goes from the GDU to the pump appears to be a -12 hose and it uses hose clamps to attach it to each side. I say "appears" to be -12 because the only measurements I can get on this line are the diameter of the nipple that it attaches to on the pump which is .737" on my pump, and the outside diameter of the hose which is ~1.1". A -12 hose has a .69" inside diameter which appears correct. To confirm you may want to measure the fitting on your pump.
Regarding adapting the -6 line to the -10 fitting on the cooler, I don't believe this would be a problem but I would confirm with the manufacturer of the cooler.
Regarding the thread measurements on the two fittings. I would recommend ordering those from Radical to make sure you have the correct part and that is seals properly. The hose fitting on the bottom of the GDU has a magnet attached to collect metal in the oil so it is worth getting the correct part.
