Would anyone know if the life ecu mapping is different between a short stroke engine and the long stroke engine that replaced the short stroke after a short run of engines in 2016?

I believe it is different. Dealers can reflash it.

If you're making changes to the Life ECU, I'd definitely save a backup of the current map before doing anything else. It also helps to confirm the firmware version, since some features and settings can vary between versions. Makes troubleshooting a lot easier if you need to roll back.
