I am having a alternator issue with my 2012 SR3 1500. We raced over the weekend and the car wasn't charging so we ran out of battery and dropped out of the race.  This is the first time we've had an issue like that.

I did have some trouble with a starter last month and ended up replacing it and noticed a plug that's coming from the clutch cover that isn't hooked to anything.  There are two electrical plugs, one says Gear Pot and the doesn't have any label.  I am assuming this must be from the stator, but I can't find anything to plug it into.  The wiring from the rectifier doesn't look like it goes in that direction, but goes over to the ECU area.

Can anyone tell me if this plug should be connected to something?  I damn sure don't see any possibilities.  If not then where does the stator wiring come from?

@jclee

I cannot determine the area of the engine of this cable and connecter, but I am going to take a guess.  As you look at the engine from the rear of car, the clutch and starter are on the right side, whereas the stater is on the left side.  There is a gear position sensor that goes into the engine, behind the clutch; it has two connectors above the engine but only the deutche connector is used.  (On my car this sensor cable has heat sheathing which hides both connectors.)  The other unused female connector is white and triangle shaped with three contacts -- that may be the connector in your picture.

I found this image from a google search: the Radical GPS has two connectors -- a deutche and the triangle shaped connector.

David, yes that's the connector I was asking about. It comes out of the clutch housing.  OK, that's not from the stator and doesn't need to be connected to anything.  That helps.
Now I'll just have to keep troubleshooting the rest of the electrical system.  I just thought maybe I had left that connector unplugged after changing the starter out multiple times, but that's not the case.

I appreciate the response.

I got it all figured out. I was looking on the wrong side of the engine thinking the stator was in front of the clutch but realized it was buried underneath the other side.

I found the harness connection burned up.  It looks like the hot wire must have lost some insulation and touched the tubing. I'll need to replace the harness and stator for sure.  I'll have to see if the rectifier is still functional, but I would bet not.
