Hey guys, need a little help.  My SR3 #110 (1340 injected with MBE) recently died on track.  AIM data shows instant loss of fuel pressure.

So, some background.  Before we left for track we ran car in shop to get it up to temp and check fluid levels.  While idling, car shut off.  Instant shut off.  Hit start button and fired right back up.  Foolishly did not think too much about it...

Got to track (4 hour tow from here) and car started and ran fine.  First session on track had what felt like fuel starvation coming onto front straight 2 laps in a row, otherwise fine.  Car had a full tank of fuel.  Next session exiting one corner same symptom, step on throttle, nobody home for a second or two, then all fine.  Next session exiting a tight corner with foot on floor car shut off.

As mentioned, AIM data shows loss of fuel pressure (zero) at each occurrence noted above.  But, when it shut off the last time on track, it did not stutter or stumble like it was running out of pressure... it just died. Felt like it lost ignition at the same time as fuel pressure, it just quit.

Car back at shop now, has zero pressure when powered up.  No 12V signal at pump.  No continuity between output side of fuel pump dash switch and the pump 12v supply. We can run the pump with a power probe so pump appears OK.  But the car will not power the pump.

Any thoughts??

Hi Jeff,

There should be a fuel pump relay somewhere. I think on those cars it was located on the bulk head near the ECU?

I would be checking that, maybe try swapping with another and see if the problem moves?

Also check the wiring in the back of the relay holder and make sure none of the terminals have dropped out.

Thank you Dan,

I have been able to find only one relay, even though there should be at least 3.  Car has been in a lot hands over the years, and some of those hands should have never held a too.

I have a wiring diagram and trying to trace the wiring, and will continue tonight.

Just close this out....  The pump had come loose from bottom of tank and was floating around.  That caused the fuel starvation.  Then it ultimately had the positive power feed contact the baffles in the tank grounding out the circuit and causing a fault in the positive wire.  We wired in a new pump relay and replaced the pump, all good now after 70 laps at the track yesterday.
