Steering wheel height
Has anyone raised the steering wheel height in an SR3 RS?
if so how did you achieve it and how much did you gain?

Hi @beau, there was essentially never any issues with steering wheel height until the XX generation came out. While the steering wheel position was the same the dash was now built into the steering wheel and most folks felt it was to low to read while driving. With that Radical came out with a retrofit kit to raise the steering wheel 3 inches. From that point on cars have been only built in that raised position. Obviously your RS car does not have the dash built into the wheel, if you wanted it higher for comfort the same raised steering retrofit kit could be used. As one of the dealers here in the US you can give me a call and I can organize a kit for you. 631-974-4379

Hi Beau,
I have a 2014 SR3 and was also looking to raise the steering wheel a bit and also ditch the small round design which I found uncomfortable on the wrists in longer sessions.
To achieve this as a simple swap, I designed and machined a 1/4" thick 6061 aluminum steering wheel which is much more ergonomic, with custom molded epoxy handles, 15mm larger diameter for a little more leverage and the mounting holes are dropped by 15mm, effectively raising the wheel on the steering column. It's made a world of difference!
People will argue that now the wheel is off-center, which would be true if it was still a circle, but also un-noticeable in track driving conditions where steering wheel inputs hardly ever exceed 90 degrees each direction.
In the attached picture, the clear plastic model on the left shows the OEM wheel mounting holes and the 3 chamfered holes show where mine mounts.
I also made a new paddle interface plate which pushes the paddles out by 15mm.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Chris
