I've been in contact with a local company that builds custom titanium exhausts for various cars. Since my motor is out being rebuilt and my season is done, I'm considering grabbing one. I wanted to weigh interest on ordering additional sets at the same time to lower freight costs.

My current system with the silencer muffler weighs in at 33 pounds. There would be two potential options - full stainless steel or stainless header plus titanium on back. Cost is still rough but figure around $3,000 for the stainless and $5,000 for titanium.

The full stainless system would likely save about 20% in weight while the titanium would be closer to 40%.

If you are interested, please let me know. Thanks!

Sounds interesting, but it is a high price to pay to save a few pounds.  To be honest I am not a good enough driver to notice a ~10 pound difference in performance.  😂 I would check into an exhaust like the one that RLM sells that is designed to improve power.

They do sound interesting, we have recently had one done on the RLM Caterham. The guy who made it is concerned over the longevity of it in this application and hopes we will see a couple of seasons.

In a Radical this problem is a lot worse as its not out in the airflow.

This set up saved around 40% weight over the big bore system - same as we do for the SR3 and PR6.

They used a thicker titanium around the exhaust outlet which makes me wonder if he has planned on doing the same hence the weight saving not being as good.

The colouring is good though 🤩

Another thought for you - and I am not trying to be negative just give you feedback, we tried a Carbon silencer on an SR3 a number of years back and the silencer failed due to the lack or air flow/heat.

@rlm-dan thanks for all the input. I'm not sure how serious I am about replacing the exhaust - losing the silencer would get me 10 pounds all by itself. The titanium bit came up in conversation so I thought I would gauge interest. The reliability is something I was concerned about.
