@staszekl, Yes, the first year of production had two different numbering sequences and two different types of certification, and some were not certified at all. Typically the cars with a number sequence like yours (SR3SL0000000000xx) either had IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) or no approval at all. Cars with a number sequence such as SA93SLL24BP2070XX have Small Series Type Approval with a Certificate of Compliance.
It is my under standing that for 2011 chassis number 1 - 5 and 10 were certified using the IVA process. Chassis numbers 7-9 and 12 had no certification. And chassis number 6 and 14 and beyond had Small Series Type approval.
- Hello . I see you have a lot of information about Radical. Not sure what type of gearbox is installed there? The chest is a Quaife QBE72G. But it occurs in spirit types of teeth. Straight and oblique. Where can this information be found on the box?
@staszekl Most of the SL's I've seen were fitted with helical gears but I'm pretty sure one could order with straight cut on request when new. The easiest way to find out is to drive the car and listen to the noise. Straight cut gears are noisier than helical. Maybe Charley can check the records and see what your car was fitted with when it left the factory, but subsequently it may have been serviced and the gears replaced. This happened often in SL's which were used mostly on track as the helical do not withstand the torque of the GDI engine very well... Without opening the casing it is not possible to know what type of gears are inside. 🙂
The only thing I can see in my notes is that your car was originally equipped with a Quaife Hypoid gearbox with serial number LH114.
