I'm on the hunt for a used dry sump oil reservoir for my SR3.

Let me know whatcha got and how much you want for it.

Hi Josh (@meatman), I have two different styles.  The one on the left is for a first gen SR3 and the one on the right is for a Prosport.  These are crazy expensive if you buy a new one. Both are available if you think one or both will work for you.   What do you think is a reasonable price?

Hey Mr.C

No pictures came through on your post but this is the style I'm looking for..

There is also a fitting directly on top that fence to the catch can.

After loading my picture, your pictures came through.

So I have the can on the left currently and I have been dealing with an issue since I bought the car where the oil fills and spews out the catch can every session I drive the car.

Compression test shows 200 PSI across all four cylinders but when at idle and take off the connection here you find the crank case is pressurized ever so slightly.

I have the powertec billet pan and the routing shows this to be correct. But I was under the impression my oil reservoir is for a wet sump system. But now I don't know with you showing me your picture.

@meatman, your reservoir is for a dry sump.  The wet sump engines don’t have external reservoirs, all of the oil is within the cases.

It sounds like you are getting a pressurized crankcase somehow.  I would check the different oil line connections to see if they are mistakenly pressurized your cases.

I'm trying to determine why my crankcase is getting pressurized enough to push a lot of oil to the catch can.

Through my initial research I thought I had read that the catch can for the dry sump disappear supposed to look like the one in the picture I posted.

Here are two diagrams showing the oil line routing for a Gen 1 (Supersport) and a Gen 2 (RS). It the Gen 1 diagram it doesn’t show an oil catching can and it has the line that would go to a catch can going back to the engine.  Perhaps this is the issue?

Also, here is an image of a Gen 1 wet sump car and you can see that it has a catch can, but doesn’t have a sump.

I did notice that there was no catch can on the Gen 1 and I also thought that perhaps the routing of the lines may be the issue as well.

In the Gen 1 diagram I do not have this particular line.

The catch can was on the car when I bought it and it was originally connected to the nipple on the PCV crankcase cover.

Because of the issue of the oil puking out of the catch can, in an attempt to fix that issue I capped it and then tapped the top of the reservoir and ran a line to the catch can. This greatly reduced the mess however did not fix it.

I do notice that there are quite a few different versions of this crank case cover, which does give me suspicions.
