I just came across this while talking with Nicholas at XLTR8 racing here in Langley.

I am sure you guys have heard about this, whats your take on doing this to an OEM suzuki engine and ecu?

Suzuki has deliberately programmed the ECM for less than maximal torque in the first three gears. Presumably, this is done to protect the rider from the full power! What they've done is to "retard" the timing, or make the spark occur TOO LATE, on purpose, so that maximal torque is NOT acheived.

The "TRE" removes this "retarding", to set the ignition spark back to the place where it will give maximal torque, just before top dead center. Thus you have "eliminated the timing retard" -- the "TRE' mod. With this mod you will notice more power possible in gears 1, 2, and 3. You'll notice SMOOTHER performance of the bike without all that jerking and engine braking in those lower gears.

Not many cars run the stock Suzuki ECU so this hasn’t been a topic I have seen before. I don’t believe Radical uses this in their Programming.

This is the case for Gen 1 Hayabusa engines but not the Gen 2 as fitted to your car.

The Gen 2 engine runs with a second set of throttle butterflies in the throttle bodies that are ECU controlled. The only differences for the lower gears is at low RPM/low throttle openings to help rideability so it will make no difference to you in a track situation.

There is however a lower rev limit in 6th gear to restrict the top speed of the bike so removing this would give you a few more revs in 6th - if it has not already been done.

All this can be adjusted and fuelling changed through the OEM ECU using the correct software so there is a chance that this was already done when the engine/loom/ECU were installed.

It would be worth having a look in your throttle bodies also, people have been known to remove the top ECU controlled butterflies, so there is a chance these have been removed.

Kinda looks this is the case of the upper throttle bodies being removed.
