Just getting my car ready for a track day this Wednesday after it sitting for over a month. Would not go in to gear and a weird banging on the bulkhead. Had a quick look, it looks like the hole for the transfer shaft has elongated. So the linkage isnt getting the correct movement. Is this a common fault in the SR3?  I'll look at it tomorrow when I'm back at the garage, this happened just as I was leaving for the night.  Do I have to brace myself for the pain of owning an older SR3 now 🙁

in the picture, the threaded bit on the left has a nut on it, it is just rattling about in the bracket 🙁 I was going to ask if I can just tighten up the nut or is this a thing that the bracket that holds it gets worn or is there anything I should  know about before I start to fix it tomorrow.

Thanks

You can try tightening it up, but it might have failed.  The threaded bit that sticks out of each side are actually studs that are mounted to bearings and when they age the bearings can get loose so they will no longer hold the part in place.  When that happens it needs to be replaced.
