Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners, Question on rear engine cover.
Hi, my Gen 1 SR3 rear clam looks to be the tracksport style designed for the road legal SR3 as the back of the cover has a spot for a license plate and does not have a large opening. It also has wheel well liners but they are falling apart as they are super thin and have seen years of rocks and rubber.
My question is does your rear engine cover have integrated fiberglass wheel wells? I'm think about cutting them out as they are pretty beat up and I think the gen 2 rear clams that have the louvers on the top rear of the arches don't have any fender liners. Please let me know if you have fender liners or even a pic of the underside of the clam. Thanks.
I have a Gen 2 with no wheel well liners. It is open with louvers over the wheels. I am changing my oil next couple of weeks and will post a pic. Let me know if you need it sooner.
Awesome, thanks so much. Planning on having my clam rebuilt because it's riddled with spider cracks as well as quite a bit of damage right above the rear tires from rocks. It will be a lot easier to repair if I can just rip out the fender liners. None of the radical dealers have any clams either new or used available. Definitely something to consider that there are currently no replacement rear clams for 2004 through 2014 sr3s.
Crit, here is a picture of the bottom of a Gen two rear body section. It is a little hard to see in the picture, but there is a partial inner fender.
Also, I know someone that has a yellow Gen 1 rear body that they would likely sell. He has a nose also. They are yellow and located near Chicago if you are interested.

Hi Charley, thank you so much for the pictures. I'm definitely interested in the rear clam if you can get me a price on it. I would of course also pay for boxing and freight to San Jose, CA 95120.
In regards to the wheel wells, it looks like radical moved to instead have a deflector in front and in back of the wheel so there is still a bit of protection, probably have to rebuild the wheel wells instead of leaving them out altogether.
@crit, I just spoke to the seller and he has the car and parts committed to "Bring a Trailer" for an auction coming up next week. He said that if the car doesn't sell after a week of being posted he will be willing to sell the body panels.
Regarding fixing your current wheel wells. I have had good luck doing repairs to them by using a couple of layers of fiberglass mat and then a top layer of woven glass.

Thanks for the update,I will keep looking for a fiberglass specialist and let's check in a week to see if the sellers car sold. Thanks for the help Charley.
@crit Interesting, I don't have the partial inner insert like Charley's car. Just an FYI
