No first gear thus no neutral
My Radical has a1340 engine with manual shift..
And after my last track day I can't get neutral if my life depended on it.
I think I've determined that it can shift 2-3-4-5-6 then down 6-5-4-3-2 but not into 1st and that's why I can't get neutral.
Thoughts?
Ok, update....
All of my previous testing the car was on its air jacks with the wheels off. Each time I was trying to get neutral the driveshafts would turn even if I was sure it was neutral.
I got an idea that it was actually in the neutral position but not fully in neutral.
I decided to put the wheels back on and lower the car and test again.
With that done the car would be in neutral and not move but ever so slightly lurch forward... but not actually roll forward... and bit a bit of not so good noise would be coming from the transmission... Not loud but definitely there.
I am now thinking it's a bent shift fork either not fully disengaging 1st or not fully going into neutral and partially engaging 2nd. That noise I'm hearing might be this thing I don't know the name of bashing around either partially engaged or partially disengaged.
Can a shift fork physically break off and cause damage?
When you guys have your car in the air, tires off and in neutral... Do your driveshafts spin?
At the 14 minute and 35 second mark he's installing the input shaft...
At first when he's putting it in neutral position and spinning it it appears that the output shaft is not spinning as is a couple other gears on the input shaft....
Then all of a sudden it is spinning and I can't quite figure out what the difference is going on here
The video I've attached is my transmission which I'm pretty sure is in neutral and the output shaft is spinning...
@meatman .. yes... but only due to friction I think from memory. You can definitely stop it from spinning with your hand.
@rich I messaged you back on FB but it might be hidden like your message to me was.
