Quick lift- Recommendations
I am currently using the B-G Racing Quick Lift (BGR154P) and find it difficult to get the front end of the car up without the help of another person. Granted I am short and don't have a lot of leverage. Is anyone having the same issue or recommend another brand/type? I am using it on an SR3
John, the quickest and easiest thing might be to just use another section of pipe to extend the handle a little giving you more leverage?
@trakmnky Thanks, the handle/pipe is already at eye level for me
John,
Does this one look any better.
This is the one I use. I inherited a jack similar to the summit one with my last race car. It was in rough shape so I actually threw it out. I bought this one as it's what most people use in the area for a spec racer ford which is similar in weight and size to our cars. It works great on my SR3 other than I need to roll the front wheels up on 1/2" chunk of plywood for a little extra clearance. My wife said she could lift the front of the car with it and she's 4'11" 100lbs. I'm suspicious of that though and will verify as soon as the car is back on the ground.
I bought it from http://www.eliteautosport.com/ Ask for Beau.
When I bought my car from Spring Mountain they told me just to jack the car from the jack point on the back then slide a 2"x6" under the middle then lower the car to cantilever on the 2x6. Works great.
Meant to say 4x6 not 2x6, for some reason it won’t let me edit my post.
John,
It takes everything she can muster but she's able to lift the front of the car with our jack. If you weigh more than 125lbs it shouldn't be a problem.
I'll be picking up a 4x6 and following Crit's suggestion. Right now I need to play a little Jenga to get the car high enough to use my low lift jack and low profile race jack so that I can lift it high enough for jack stands. His method should make this much easier.
Hope this helps.
Thanks all for the recommendations. I will try some of the idea but glad to know i am not the only one!!
One thing I might add to those using the 4x6 method, make sure that you put the 4 x 6 under the line of rivets that's running horizontally from left to right (driver to passenger). This is located slightly aft of the middle of the seat. This is where the bottom skin is riveted to a cross brace of the frame that goes all the way across.
