Cutoff and Data acquisition Radical SR3
hello everybody, i am new here, i am a spanish driver that just bought a Radical SR3 from 2007.
I want to ask 2 things, the first one is that i am having problems with trannsmission in terms of that the car has a cut off system installed, but when i go full throttle and try to change gear, sometimes it goes ok, but in some other times (a lot more) the car makes the cut of the ignition but the gear doesn’t change.
Another thing i want to ask is how can i get into the ECU with my pc, i mean, cables i need, and pc programs to use, i have no idea, i need some help.
Really apreciate it, thank you so much
Hi Manuel (@manuolargo), congratulations on getting an SR3! Which cut off system does your car have? Does it have paddle shifting or the standard "snick" shift? If your car has the standard snick shift system you need to let up on the throttle slightly before shifting to unload the transmission. Regarding getting information from the ECU, it depends which ECU your car has. In 2007 the cars came with MBE ECU's and these ECUs don't store useful data that can be downloaded and they are locked from the factory so the can not be tuned. If your car has been converted to a newer Life ECU system you can purchase a download cable from any Radical dealer. If you let me know which chassis number car you have I can let you know if I have an information from my notes on the car.
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com it has the standart stick on the middle yes. But as i know, cutoff is just to don’t lift the throttle right? Right now, the 2 hillclimbs i made i was lifting throttle to switch gear, but on that moment the cutoff is not working. When i go full throttle and pull the gear, it cuts ignition and let the car “free” to change gear, but sometimes the gear switches ok, but other times don’t. Some people told me that it can be the distance on gear linkage, that it should be more. I don’t know.
And the chasis number is SR3 00325
@manuolargo, unless someone added a system to cut the ignition you need to lightly lift the throttle momentarily to unload the transmission between shifts. I have only driven the paddle shift cars, but that is my understanding of the proper way to shift the cars with a stick. That is why they are called snicker shift cars, because you have to get the feel of unloading the transmission slightly to snick into the next gear. Hopefully someone with first hand experience with this type of shifting will chime in.
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com oh yes, i forgot, cutoff system was added by the previous owner, the cut ignition works ok because you can hear the engine cutting, and sometimes it switches gear really good, but not always.
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com You are correct Mr.C
