I'm experiencing two issues first the steering wheel speed is roughly half of what the actual vehicle speed is. The speed data on the video overlay from the SmartyCam is correct. I checked the PDM and SW4 channels and both were set to MPH. I changed the PDM channel to KPH as Ben Jacobs suggested and will try that to see if it resolve it. I think it is double converting the wheel speed signal.
The second issue is that the lap timer will show the entire session as one full lap instead of breaking it up after passing the start/finish location. I verified good GPS signal and the track is loaded in the SmartyCam. I called Radical in the UK and they suggested having the track loaded in all the modules (PDM, SmartyCam, and SW4) they told me that the steering wheel has some to do with recording and deciphering lap data. I will try that and retest next month to see if it took care of both issues. I'm confident in the speedometer issue being fixed. The laptimer I have less confidence.
@aweide01 When you are all saying SW4 are you talking about the FSW_R (radical specific version of the Aim wheel)?
How are we supposed to even connect to the FSW_R to load tracks onto it?? Or is it not necessary when the PDM32 has the tracks?
Also, I attempted to add a shift light module today and RaceStudio insisted I update the PDM firmware before I could push the updated config. needless to say I stopped and came here to learn if it is even safe to do so.
Anyone have insight on the process for updating the PDM without bricking the car?
@thecargocult the wheel is still an AIM SW4 in firmware and architecture. to connect to the wheel there is a cable that you need to get. It connects to the Autosport connector. From that connector there are a couple leads. One is for 12V power. I bought an 24W led light power supply and added a deutsch connector to it for the power. The usb lead connects to the laptop. Once the wheel is connected open race studio and you can modify screens shift lights and load tracks to it. Once I had the track loaded into the PDM, SW4, and Smartycam the laptimer was working again.
