On my SR4 (same as an SR1), I cannot remove the right side Nik link bolt.  It hits the back mounting point for the front part of the upper wishbone mount before the bolt can be removed from the Nik link rod end.

Do I need to remove both shocks to somehow pivot the rocking arm?

mine was very close with a stock bolt. I replaced the bolt with a grade 12 socket cap screw.

you could try weighting or unloading the car to see if the arm will rotate up.

Hi Graeme.  Thanks, that makes sense.  Socket cap screw should have a small OD on the head.

I have to admit, I haven't been successful in visualizing how the Nik links work.  I tried loading as well as unloading the suspension and couldn't really get the bolt to have more clearance.

If I'm going to replace it, then I think I will just admit defeat and cut the head off.  Thanks for the socket head suggestion!

Here is a photo of what I did. as you can see, it's close.

instead of cutting it out. try taking the pushrod bolts out and then raising and lowering the car

I did sell my car, it went to a couple of good guys in Northern California. I still have all the photos I have taken, so they might be of help in the future

@Graemed Congratulations on the sale. I hope this means you aren't out of the Radical game, just making room for another one?!

@Graemed -- do you happen to know the size and length of the grade 12 bolt you purchased?  I forgot to measure and size that bolt when I was working on this and I have the car at the track garage right now.

@johnsopa

sorry to say, I sold and delivered my car.  So I am not sure what length bolt I used. But all of the suspension bolts are fine thread, with most being 3/8-24.
