How many heat cycles do you typically get out of a set. I’m at 25 heat cycles. They certainly aren’t corded but they also aren’t as good. Do they continue to fall off? Anybody cord a set?

I've corded the last two sets. Both would have at least 80 cycles on them. I set my personal best at my home track on the second to last session with one of the sets. That is mostly down to driver skill (or lack thereof), but I definitely haven't experienced a cliff with them yet.

I have the same ongoing questions on my first set.  Wow, 80 cycles seems out of this world.

I am at 24 cycles now, but definitely noticed drop off, especially on rears, with these very hot TX tracks.  With that being said, there is still lots of rubber left, but I am changing them out before next event.  I know all boils down to added run costs, but I dont take any chances on tires/brakes.

Wow 80 heat cycles is crazy. Very impressive. Did you pick up significant lap time when you went to the new set? You are giving me confidence to keep these on for a bit

 😐 @raider89

Dan,

Please follow up with how the new tires feel and if they impact your lap times significantly. When is your next event? I don’t run for another month 😐

No I didn't pick up any significant lap time. The couple Radical Cup teams I have been around suggest 1 - 2 seconds on a fresh set of slicks is the expectation. I have never one out on an old set and then gone out on a brand new set either to set back to back times to see the difference - I run one set 'til they are smoked then start with the next set.

I don't have input on running slicks on the radical but I have run slicks before on much heavier car. Make sure your setup is right and the tire is heating and wearing like it should. Slicks can be temperamental and you have to make sure they are in their happy zone to work well and consistently.

I've picked up a little over a second from one session to the next with the only change being new tires.

Here in Radical South Korea, drivers typically practice with old Hankooks and swap to new for the quali session. Take-offs are abundant, and I doubt anyone gets anywhere close to the cords.

I have two sets in the trailer. One set I fear got 'frozen' over the winter. They are a solid 3 seconds a lap slower. Still plenty of tread and they 'look' just as good as my other set, but are ABSOLUTELY much slower. They just don't 'feel' the same either.

My previous set of tires I ran down to the chords and those seemed just as fast all the way to the end.
