Hi/Low lights
Just a quick one - Are the upper and lower lights, the main and dip or is it the other way around? My Radical came without a front loom, so I'm unsure which way to wire them.
I believe the way mine was set up was that the Hi/Lo 1 and Hi/Lo 2 wires went to the lower light (H/L 2 goes to the brighter of the two bulbs in the lower light), and the Main beam went to the upper light. You can see in the switch wiring diagram that when the "Headlight on " switch is powered it gives power to the Hi/Lo 1 wire and to the center of the "Dip / Main Beam" switch. Then the "Dip / Main beam" switch is used to divert power either to the "Main beam" or the "High beam"
With both of my light switches in the "down" position this is what my lights looked like. The smaller light in the lower light was on, and the upper light was on.
That's interesting, mine is slightly different - the jumper seems to be on the third pin of the main switch.
First position - all off.
Second position - sidelights only (small bulbs in all four lights).
Third position - side lights (IIRC) plus either dip or main beam.
From your picture it looks like the main beam is the upper lights and the dip is the lower. I would have thought it would be better the other way around, as there is a longer field of vision, the higher the lights are on the vehicle!
That is interesting. Perhaps the wiring is done a bit differently because your car is an SVA / IVA (street legal) car and has the additional side lights. The track cars I have seen are wired like this.
Yes, the upper light on my car was the main beam and the lower is the dip light which has a low and high beam bulb in it.
