High rpm for noise testing dilemma
using the oil preheater on my SR3 then starting, the oil temp will drop from 85C back down to about 40 degrees before slowly climbing. However by the time it gets to 50, my water temp is at 95+ and i get a warning on my steering wheel display.
The issue i've got is......there's 1 circuit in UK where i'd like to do track days, and they have a static noise test where i would be asked to rev the car to about 6.5k rpm, before being allowed to take part.
Is it safe to rev the engine to 6.5k in neutral with oil at 50 and water at 90+, for about 5 seconds?...which is what i'd have to do for the test.
I'm guessing you don't have the factory fan on the water radiator that is temp activated? If not I would get one. It makes life way easier managing water temps on grid and in the paddock.
Barring that, get a fan or leaf blower and run air through the water radiator side pod inlet. This will keep that temp down enough for you to pass your noise check.
righto, thanks. just ordered it.
radical use the 10" revotec comex high power suction fan, + the easy mounting kit FPK01.
