Sr3 rs need help motor running on 2 cyl only
So I purchased a sr3 that came with a issue , it a 2010-11 with. 1340 But not a RPE just a stock motor k8 , life Ecu , paddle shifters. The car runs but only on cyl 3 and 4 ..here is what I have done so far.
new plugs
new coil and wires
checked the firing order Check for spark ( good spark)
replace injectors for a second working set
Swapped injectors around no change
Compression check all 210 psi
leak down checked 2 and 3 % good
check cam timing (perfect) Factory set
check valve lash all with in spec
check power to injectors , can see the injector getting signal
but after all this still cyl 1 and 2 are not working it's driving me nuts , all checks out as it should .
So for the experts out there the only thing I haven't been able to check is the life Ecu , and the crank trigger / stator . If it fire off 3 and 4 it should fire off 1 and 2 360 deg after ? I am stumped going crazy trying to figure this out.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .
have a great day .
Manny
Go back to basics, are the plugs wet?
one side of the coil fires 1&4 the other side of the coil fires 2&3. You might have a wiring problem going to the coil.
using the RPE ignition coils?
RPE wiring harness from the ECU to the engine?
RPE/Jenevy throttle bodies and injectors?
do the injectors have a good ground? (Wiring)
yes gone back to basic.
i installed new plugs and ran the motor .. 1 and 2 plugs look like clean as there were new, 3 and 4 have some black sutte like if they were rich.
yes using RPE coil and wires -- have replace with a new one --nothing changes
yes RPE harness from ECU
yes RPE Injection and injectors
I check the injector 12v supply and signal while running and they check out.
1 and 2 cyl seem to be blowing un burnt fuel as the 1 and 2 header is spitting out raw fuel at the head joints ..
Just baffled there is spark , fuel , compression , I am just thinking the ECU is sending the wrong spark sequence to the coil .
Regards Manny
excuse the dumb question, is this what you are looking at?
Cylinders: left:> #1; #2; #3; #4; <right
coil; side with connector is #1 side opposite connector is #2 & #3.
do you have the life Racing software?
does the dash show RPM while cranking?
HI Many (@msracing), It sounds like you are looking at all of the right things. Another thing to check is the crank stater. There are several different trigger points (24-1,24-2, 30-1, etc.) used so I wonder if the standard Hayabusa that got put into the car has the wrong stater installed which would make the triggering be miss-timed?

Swap 1/2 plug leads over it could be a silly mistake ?
@msracing, Silly question... I know you have other SR3’s to look at, but do your wires look like this? I am sure you already checked this, but it is worth asking. 🙂

@graemed hey Yes the coils order is correct ,, i ended take the ecu out and shipping it to Spring mountain to test it in one of there cars.. they are also doing to remap it for 1340.. lets see if its a ecu problem.. @charleyH The only thing left to check is the stator/pickup not sure what it has in it.. i thought they made a gen 1 and a gen 2 version .. lets see what SM says .. if it runs on one of there cars the only thing left to check will be the stator or the harness..
this one has really stumped me... Thanks you all for the input keep on thinks we need to solve this puzzle..
we will all know in a few days..
Manny
Sounds like an ECU or wiring problem to me.
As said above there is a driver for cylinders 1 & 2 then 3 & 4. Sounds like the 1 & 2 isnt working.
Check both power feeds to the coil.
Were you able to obtain any history on the problem prior to your purchase?
