Hi,  I have a SR3 SL and the compressor motor has become quite noisy.   I presume it is the same one fitted to the SR3 + 8.   I thought I would have a quick nose and the casing / shaft is quite loose.  Anyone taken one apart or serviced one before?

Cheers Gareth

Hi Gareth, I know that the compressors can be rebuilt, but I have not done it.  Hopefully someone who has will speak up.  If it were me I would start the disassembly process and see what is damaged an then start sourcing parts.  It is worth contacting your local Radical dealer to see if they have a rebuild kit.  Your compressor appears to be the same as is used in an SR3.

Thanks Charley.

I have contacted Radical, I have seen on their shop that they sell a motor assembly.  They have not got back to me with a price yet.  But, I contacted Parvalux and they quoted me around £300.00 for a new motor.....I am guessing Radical will come back with a price around the £750 mark for the assembly.

Interestingly, Parvalux, said the motor must be around 10 years old (which is correct) and it must be time for a new one.  I have been with the wife loads longer than that....is it also time for a new one?

I will take it apart (the motor, not the wife) and see what I find.  It seemed a bit fiddly to be honest when I had a minor look at it the other day though.....
