New Owner from South Wales
Chassis number 143.
Prosport bought in 2023, full respray in Shark Blue.
Previously set up for hillclimb, currently has twin sprocket set-up but about to change it back to the original single sprocket set-up.
Does anyone have information on the gearing ratios for any UK tracks?
Closest track is Pembrey so will be where I take it first and unsure of what gearing to run?
Thanks in advance.
Nick
Welcome Nick (@nickallitt), Congratulations on getting your new Prosport! Unfortunately I cant help with your ratio questions but hopefully others will chime in.
Welcome Nick!
Most 1300/1340cc cars start with a 16T front sprocket (suspect you could be 14/15) then rear from 41-46 ish. 16 on the front and somewhere in the middle on the back would get you going and your chain length should cope with any changes.
- Hi Nick , I was running 15 front / 50 rear on my clubsport all last season, did 4 events / sprints at Pembrey as well as Anglesey, llandow, plus a load of hillclimbs . It was ok, acceleration was awesome, but 103mph flat out . Probably a 15 front with a 46 rear would have given me more top end speed . Over the winter I've upgraded the engine to a 1500 Powertec Hyabusa, I'm running a 14 tooth front , with a 46 tooth rear , that basically isn't far off the same final drive ratio as the 15 / 50 . 1 tooth smaller on the front is like going down 3 teeth on the rear . There are different sprocket calculator apps online .
- I'm only in Kidwelly. 2 miles from Pembrey circuit. I used to change tyres for Anthony when he had the Clio many years ago. If you want a chat about anything give me a shout . Kidwelly Tyre Centre. I'm on FB etc 👍. Cheers , Paul.
Hi Paul, thanks for getting in touch!
Yeah my old man did show me your car when I was looking for one! Its looking good! Would be good if I could pick your brains a bit with car setup and ratios, any knowledge you have would appreciated!
Went to change the sprockets today, I’m converting it back to a single chain drive from a dual and found a problem…
The front sprockets I bought have a smaller spline diameter than whats on the car. Do you know anything about dual chain drives and if they would have changed the output shaft to a larger diameter? Perviously a hillclimb car.
