Hello Everyone- I am a coach at Somerset Academy Collegiate in San Antonio, Texas. We are now in possession of SR3 113. We are looking to rebuild and maintain to run in Vintage races and HPDE around Texas. Our students will be mentored by local mechanics and other volunteers to get the car back on track. We are very excited and would love any insight, tips etc. We are also invited to attend the WEC event in Austin where the Radical Cup will be a support race.
Hi Joshua (@coachjfree), Welcome to the Registry. To the best of my knowledge that car has been sitting in a disassembled state since 2010 so you will have a lot of work to get it back running. Most of the work you and your students can do, but I would recommend having the engine overhauled by a certified Radical engine shop. Radical has done a lot to the engines to allow the them to survive in an automotive environment and they do not make the parts or information about changes available to non certified shops. Everyone wants to save a little money by having the engine overhauled by the local Hayabusa shop and most of the time this ends in tears. There have been a lot of updates to these engines since 2010 and it is worth getting the latest updates. Feel free to post any questions that you have as you work on the car and I am sure the Registry members will be able to help you.
