Newbie with a Clubsport
Hi guys,
my name is Richard, I’m based just north west of London and I’ve just bought myself a very nice little Clubsport 1100.
You May have seen it on eBay. I’m new to Radicals but been messing around with cars and bikes for years.
Be good to pick the brains of any other owners out there
Cheers
Rich
Welcome Richard! Your car looks fantastic. You should be able to get what ever advice you need here. I always enjoy when a clubsport shows up because they are becoming increasingly hard to find. When you have a chance please take a few minutes and add your car to the Registry. We are trying to collect information on as many cars as possible to help preserve the history of these great cars. Also, If you have a chance please post a picture of your chassis number plate in this post ( https://radicalsportscarregistry.com/radicalforum/clubsport-specific-discussions/wanted-clubsport-prosport-chassis-number-plate-pictures/#post-948 )? I am collecting the information for an article I am writing on the early cars
I am confident that you are going to really enjoy your Clubsport. I am looking forward to reading your posts as you progress.
Please feel free to reach out for any support you may need.
Charley
Thanks Charley
I'm really pleased with the car. The previous owners tells me it was originally a spare car for one of the Clubsport Championship teams. It was bought from them by a guy to do track days but only did a couple. The next owner was the one I bought the car from and he only did 2 track days in it. So it’s not done much work and the car’s condition reflects this.
It’s on flatslide carbs and is dry sumped. Jobs to do are sorting out the dash displays which I think is wiring and sender issues. I also need to sort the seating position as I’m too low and too far back at the moment; I’m thinking of making a seat insert to sort this?
Chassis numberwise I’ve yet to find the chassis plate, where should I be looking?
Cheers
Rich
That is great that the car has survived all these years with so little use.
Regarding the chassis number plate, they are usually on the firewall right behind the seat. Sometimes there are on the firewall over to the right side. One car had it mounted under the nose of the car near one of the suspension points. Here are a few pictures that might help.
This is what your chassis number plate should look like.
Here are a few pictures showing where it might be located, although people get creative sometimes, so it could be almost anywhere. Happy hunting 🙂

The original dash in my Prosport could not be seen in the sunshine so I replaced it with real gauges. I am an old guy and prefer dial gauges anyway ; )
Really nice Clubsport, enjoy
Hi Richard, any updates on the progress with your car?
Charley
Hi Charley
I’ve slowly been working through the car. It has a bit of a fueling issue in that it floods the flatslides really easily. I’ve been playing with the fuel pressure regulator but were the cars always fitted with a Facet square fuel pump?
I’ve had a seat insert made now and I’m due out in it at Donington
still not found a chassis plate yet!
I’m glad to see your progress with the car! I don’t know the answer to your fuel pump question. Hopefully someone with first hand club sport experience will be able to answer.
That is strange that you haven’t found the number plate. Perhaps a previous owners kept it as a souvenir.
Facet pump was standard.
Off the top of my head I want to say 2-4 psi fuel pressure, but this was a long time ago!
I would maybe think that you float bowls are sticking/not shutting off.
