Thanks for introducing me to your forum.

It was a pleasure talking to you today.  The info you gave me was fantastic.

Hey Charlie,

A blue 2012 SR8 is now mine.  I'm pretty excited about it.

Can you give me that list of stuff we talked about?

I'd like to get in touch with the seller on it.

Getting excited here.  I’ll be headed to WA next Monday, Nov. 12, to pick up my SR8.

I’ve followed your lead and picked up a Look 8.5 x 20 enclosed trailer and will be setting it up (wireless winch, E Track, etc.) over the next couple of days. I have a set of the 10’ Raceramps coming too.

Discussion today with the guy I’m purchasing the car from informs me that it has the quiet mufflers installed and the brake rotors and pads are still well within their life span.  He informs me that it’s track ready and I’m looking forward to taking it to Buttonwillow.

More to come in the next few days.

Congratulations!  I am excited for you.  What day are you going to be at Buttonwillow?

You are going to add some additional tie down rings to your trailer prior to your trip.  The standard takedown ring location is too close to the center of the trailer.  You are going to need rings further outboard.  I will try and find some pictures for you.  These are easy to add, but you will want to do it before you get to Washington.

Here are some pictures of where the Rings are placed.  You can see that if they are too far toward the center of the trailer they will hit the car.  The car is too low to try and use a net over the wheel.  In the rear I use two straps on each side of the car.  This keeps the car in place and allow the straps on the front wheels to be snug, but not tight.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Charley

I’ll be installing E Track on the floor, along the sides fore and aft of the wheel wells.  It’ll give me a large envelope of tie points to hold the car in place.  I’ve used E Track for years with great results. I’ll post up some pix of it when installed.

I’ll be at Buttonwillow Friday, Nov 16 through Sunday with the SoCal Audi club.  Friday is an open track day and the weekend will be under Audi HPDE control.  I’ve already gotten the okee dokee to run with them.  Bill Vogel is running the event and we have tracked many times together so he’s familiar with my skills.

I’m looking forward to seeing pictures.

I will check my schedule and see if I can meet you at Buttonwillow to help you get familiar with the car.

Enjoy your trip Richard!  If you are going through LA / Orange county and need a place to stay you are welcome to stay with us.  I have enough room out front for the trailer.  Take lots of pictures of the trip and post them on the Forum.  I am looking forward to following the action!

It’s great to have you here Robert!  My wife and I enjoyed spending time with you at Laguna Seca  a few weeks ago.

1500 miles, 25.5 hours of seat time to Aberdeen from Scottsdale.  Check.

Picked up the blue beastie yesterday morning.  It rolled right into the trailer w/o any issues at all.  Check.

Drove 1000 more miles over the last day and a half to get to Buttonwillow.  Pulled the car back on the ramp so I could work on it and moved the seat forward.  I can just reach the pedals.  I'll get through the weekend with the seat positioned as is but I can see that I'll be needing to move the seat forward and tilt it upward a bit so I can see above the dash a tad more.  What can I say... I'm a short sh*t.  ?

Sitting in a hotel room, chilling for the evening.  The excitement starts tomorrow morning.

I need to learn the dash next.

I'll get some pix posted up when I get home.

Congratulations Richard!  Take my cell phone number with you to the track and feel free to call me with any questions you might have.  I highly recommend reading the Owners Manual tonight and if possible bring a copy with you to the track.  Warm up is CRITICAL on these cars.  Also be sure to read the section on how to check the oil level.  It isn’t the same as a normal car.

Have fun!

Charley
