Prosport windscreen
I am curious if the windscreen I see on many cars in the registry is the same as PR6 and if so, does anyone have a part number? I was told the Prosport original is discontinued and wanted to know what others are doing before I just cut a piece of lexan. Thanks
It doesn't help you from a part number perspective, but I am just going to cut and form my own Lexan.
@rich, the small gurney flap windshields (plexiglass or lexan that sticks ~1" vertically into the air stream in front of the driver) work extremely well for reducing wind buffeting, but you would have to make a bracket to mount it on a Prosport. You can get some Lexan form Home depot or a hardware store to make your own. If you want to make a full windshield like what was used on the early Clubsports and Prosports you might want to reach out to twan@radicalbenelux.com in the Netherlands. He just purchased Clubsport chassis number 1 and a windscreen came with the spare parts so you might be able to get him to make you a template from it.
Here is an image of a Gurney flap on an SR3
And here is a picture of the Clubsport windshield
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com I am in the process of having a good friend who builds boat windshields copy the original one you are showing me. I do appreciate the Gurney tip Charlie, thanks. It is the one like this fine picture shows that I wondered if was a purpose built item with a possible part number. Thanks again for the help
Rich,
My Prosport has the same windscreen as yours. The hump in the middle was to clear the dash/gauges. I have one on the car and a spare both are carbon fiber. I think this was standard on the Prosport. In this picture you can see
the Gurney lip I installed.
@neilca thanks for the response. That is the one I am asking about. if it is the Prosport original then I am out of luck as it is no longer available from Radical. I was hoping it was perhaps for PR6 or some other fortunate answer. I will continue to make a lexan shield with Gurney as recommended.
Rich
@rich, it would be worth reaching out to these guys. They build a lot of Prosport body parts and they may have a mold for this also?
