Hello fellow owners of a Radical RXC Turbo, question, whats the general capacity overall experienced in a full engine oil drain new oil filter change? - how do you accurately measure the refilled oil capacity? - The handbook is incorrect, by suggesting to wait for the oil pressure light to go out, or by allowing engine oil to reach 60degs C at idle then turn off engine wait 1 minute then check with the factory provided dipstick. the level should be between the 2 marks provided. I am curious to know what averages of capacity owners are refilling between changes. for me I've experienced between 8.5lts and 9lts usually, draining around 8.5lts to 8.8lts, but latest change 9.7L's and only just measured over the min mark at 60 degs C, this is carried out by holding RPM at 4,000RPM for 10 seconds, then shutting off engine, waiting 1 min then checking the oil level.

G'day Julian,

I'm not sure I can help you much - I have two SR3's...

What I can offer is that I have developed an approach to oil changes that takes a fair bit of guess work away...

Sounds like you have a rough idea of how many litres of oil you took out.  My approach is similar, except that I simply weigh the entire volume of oil I remove, and then simply add that same weight back.  The exact amount of oil required each time will depend a little on whether you completely drain the sump, dry-sump tank, hoses etc.

My wife isn't over the moon with this arrangement, as the digital scales I use are from the kitchen... 😎

By weighing what comes out and simply replacing that exact amount, at least you know you should be back at a very similar level on the dipstick....

I've used this process now on the last three oil changes and it has been spot on the level on the dipstick from before/after. (after the engine/filter, etc has been re-primed by cranking the engine over without the spark plugs in)

Probably won't help you this time given you already have the oil drained... but thought I would share anyway.

Hope it goes smoothly - I bet the RXC Turbo is a fantastic car to drive!
