New owner and need to know how full to fill the swirl pot / overflow.  Should it be 1" from top or ?

I've looked through the owners manual, mechanics manual and there doesn't seem to be anything to indicate where the level should be on the can itself.

Everyone normally run just water or anti-freeze too?

Thanks,

What swirl pot do you have?

UK normally run a 50/50 water antifreeze mix.

I'll take a picture and post it when I have the back of the car off tomorrow.  It's just a small can 8" tall and 4" across.  The black cap has a warning in both English and German.  It has one large 1" pipe connection at the top and also a smaller 1/4" connection.

Coolant keeps burping out after every session.  Can is about 3/4 full now.

In my SR4 the coolant swirl pot is always "burping" a bit of fluid each run.  I ended up zip-tying an empty water bottle to the frame with the drain line from the swirl pot emptying there.  I fill about 1/3 of the water bottle each 15-20 min run.

I replaced the radiator pressure cap and that reduced the amount I lost (before I was losing about 1/2 - 2/3 of a water bottle).  Not sure what's going on, honestly.  I'm switching to pure water so that I'm not constantly dropping a bit of coolant just in front of the left rear tire.

I purchased a plastic expansion tank ( https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=10031 ) that I need to install to replace the zip-tied water bottle.  I'm thinking that if I keep this a closed-loop setup, it might suck the overflow coolant back in.

BTW -- if I don't add some water back in every two sessions, by the third session the engine water temps will start to creep up to about 95-100C.

Sounds like the original small one then, that rad cap will be the same as standard busa one.

Ideally you want to be running an expansion pot off the bleed on this. As long as the engine is healthy it should blow a bit out as it gets warm and then draw the water back in as it cools down.

Just wanted to jump back in and post a picture of my swirl pot as requested.  Seems like if I leave it half full it doesn't burp anything out and still has enough for the engine.
