Engine/chassis number?
Hi
I was wondering if the engine number should match the chassis serial?
Second question is the engine cradle a part of the chassis or bolted in?
Hi John (@fubawu), No the engine number does not match the chassis number. The chassis number (except for the Prosports, Clubsports, and models that designed to registered for road use) Start with the model number and typically have 5 digits that end with the production sequence number For example SR300485 was the 485th SR3 scheduled to be built. Although all of the Radical Models skipped number 13.
The Engine numbers typically starts with the engine displacement, a dash and then a build number. If the engine is a Short Stroke 1500 it will have “SS” in the engine number also. On newer cars the number is on plate mounted to the valve cover and on earlier engines the number is stamped onto the engine block.
Regarding the Engine cradle. There are metal tabs welded to the chassis, and then the engine cradle is bolted to the chassis, and the engine is bolted to the engine cradle.

Thanks Charlie as always your a wealth of knowledge!
Your welcome John (@fubawu), I am always happy to help. Here is an image from the Parts manual that will give you a better idea of how the engine goes in. Keep in mind that this diagram doesn't include the upgraded engine brace that gets added on top.
