new to the whole radical thing, picked up a early gen 2 sr3 a few weeks ago and have been going threw it, it has the older radical dash/cluster and  where it says gear all i see is the number 6, it doesnt change anytime i shift, i also notice under the dash the previous owner zip tied a black with red number gear selector screen but with the car on all it reads is 1, when i cycle igniton it goes to 6 then 1.. so my question is what sends the gear select info to these 2 gauges? is it right off the motor or does it go to the computer and then the computer sends it to the gauge? any common issues to look for?  thanks!

Welcome.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly, but in the mean time it may be useful if you posted the chassis number as it will help suss out what the car has.

The gear change will be controlled either by the car's main ecu (located behind the panel at your elbow), or a separate one (made by Geartronics) which should be under the dash, or tucked down the side of the seat. Have a look for that.

thanks everyone i got the aftermarket gear selector to work. i found the connection on the right side of the motor, disconnected it and cleaned the terminals and now its working good. the dash still shows 6th gear but thats because the aftermarket sensor in plugged inline..  cant wait to get her back on track, does anyone else have a issue with the car wanting to stall when shifting into gear at idle? seems like the auto blip cuts the engine to much at idle, if i hold the rpms up a little bit and then go into gear then its fine, just curious if this is a common issue or if theres a computer reflash to fix it

@bradspeed114

I would assume it is a Geartronics system on the car and is a characteristic of the earlier systems.

Contact Geartronics direct and I am sure they will help if an upgrade is available.
