The introduction of the Life Racing ECU onto the SR3 was one of the major developments that improved the maintainability of the car.  The Life Racing ECU incorporates an engine data logging system that enables the downloading of extensive amounts of engine data for review and trouble shooting. This data file can also be emailed to Radical / Powertec so they can remotely troubleshoot and help resolve issues.  For more detailed information on how to use the Life Racing ECU you can look at the “Radical Sportscars Data Analysis manual” that can be found at https://radicalsportscarregistry.com/data-manual/

I have been told several conflicting stories about when the Life ECU's were incorporated and with the help of Simon at the Radical Factory they mystery is finally solved. Chassis number 327 was the first SR3 to get a Life ECU, but the ECU was limited to engine control only, and cars with Paddle shifting had a stand alone closed loop system.  It wasn't until June of 2009 when chassis number 464 was built that the Life ECU was implemented with in it's current form where it is integrated into the Paddle shifting system.
