Performance Friction Brake Pads
Does anyone have the part number and compound for a second gen SR3 brake pads. I am ready to change my pads for the first time since I have owned the car and cannot find the part number on the PFC website. Are there other suppliers for pads and any opinions on compounds/performance?
John, I don't know what the part number is, but the description on one of my bills calls them "Performance Friction Brake Pads 13 Comp (E21).
If you contact PF they should be able to tell you what pad shape. Or you can work through one of the Radical Dealers and you know you will get the right part. My philosophy about buying Radical parts is that sometimes the dealerships may cost a little more, but I always viewed it as a good investment because I knew I was getting the right part and I was willing to pay a slight premium to make sure they would stay in business. Also, all of the dealerships I have dealt with have been so extremely helpful when I had issues that I figured it was worth paying that small premium.

thanks for the info. I agree with your philosophy but the quote I received from a dealer felt like more than a "slight" premium to me and thought I would shop other outlets first.

I think the calipers should/might be the same SR3 to SR1 (HiSpec) assuming a newer car.. The pads I use are the PFC 01 compound p/n 7740.01.16.44, and can be purchased thru many race shops. the 08 compound is only sold thru Radical.
thanks!!!
After a little digging I found a contact at PFC brakes.
Darrick Dong is the contact for motorsports brakes. His phone is 803-370-0442 and email ddong@pfcbrakes.com. Darrick was super helpful and quick to respond. The part number he gave me is 7745.01.16.44 It looks to be the same pad that I have. I also found the markup from the two dealers I contacted between $90 to $190 for a set of pads vs my online search. Since I am still learning the car he recommended the 01 compound vs the 13 compound. Competition Motorsports appears to have the most competitive pricing and offers a discount to NASA members.
Great information John. Thank you for doing the research and posting.
I just purchased the pads on Competition Motorsports. They were $20 cheaper per set of pads than the lowest price I found on the web. I received a $50 NASA discount on a $400 purchase with free shipping.
Yes, I am a cheap bastard!!!
Thanks John!
I understand where Charley's coming from... we need to keep the dealers in business because without them we're all lost. And Spring Mountain Racing's tech support is very very good. Radicals Tech Support line is great (when you can get them on the line).
But the markup does seem extreme. I bought a gearbox bearing and found it marked up over 4 times what I could get from a local bearing dealer, let alone what I could find online.
Agree, I have a list 2 pages long of work that Spring Mountain will do on my car. Pretty confident they are making it back. I also purchased tires from them at what I thought was a reasonable markup.
