As some of you know I am in the process of getting a 2000 Prosport ready for the track again after many years of sitting unused in a car collection. Part of that work includes putting in a new fuel cell.  Today I looked inside of the old fuel cell to see how the current fuel pump is mounted and was surprised to see how the the pump is wired. I would have thought that the wiring would be sealed.  Is this a common way for fuel pumps to be wired?

Thanks,

Charley

That does not surprise me, there has to be some sort of wire connection. There are many electrical connections within the confines of aviation fuel tanks. As long as the connections are secure there is minimal possibilities of an arc/spark.

Right. If you have a fuel level sensor or in-tank pump, the connections are usually like that.
