Do i need to be concerned about measuring temperature? I know the manual talk about ensuring the spread of temperature is within a 10-15 degreee range - leaving that to one side for the moment lets assume it is:

am i safe to assume that if the presures are getting up to 28psi as per the manual, that therefore they are in the correct operating window and giving the most grip?

how much of an effect on grip would it have if, say, the tyres are at 25 or 26psi rather than 28?

i recently had a test day where there was very little opportunity to do more than 4-5 consecutive laps without a red flag, and i struggled to get anywhere near laptimes i was doing 2 years ago, and i don't know whether it was just me having not driven the car for 2+ years and finding my way again, or the fact that the car just felt pretty terrible to drive with seemingly no grip all round.

@rojid

...it will be both of these things in my experience.  2 years is a hell of a long time out of the car!... and even the very best amateur drivers will take some time to 'build confidence' and 'feel' again after such a long break.

Are your tyres new.. or the same ones from 2 years ago?.. even 2 years without use will likely see performance drop a little. (a few tenths of a second per lap at least)

I don't bother too much with tyre temps.  You need to measure them as soon as you stop and without going too slow as you come into the pits for it to get good readings.  That means you need a pit crew ready to go, etc.

I target hot temps of between 27 and 28psi for the C72's... and 25psi will definitely be too low and costing you time in my experience.
