Pneumatic Throttle Blip
Hi, still trying to understand all I can about my radical..
I’ve got a pneumatic paddle shift system, but I’m unsure how the throttle blip works, how does the car know when to activate the throttle blip?
I’ve also found a broken switch behind the clutch pedal, the car has traction control so I’m assuming its to activate the traction control at a standing start?
Thanks!
@nickallitt I don't understand the purpose behind the clutch pedal, but the ECU knows to blip the throttle based on a downshift request (left paddle). Depending on the year, and any mods made since then, the ECU takes vehicle speed, current gear, requested gear, both gear ratios, and engine speed (some ECUs are more sophisticated than others, but that's the minimum set) in order to produce the right throttle blip.
Here's an introductory article I found: Paddle-shift Basics [TECH BYTE] (hpacademy.com)
Hope that's useful!
