Btw, i see you have LHD.. was this car RHD originally?? Many people who rebuild them totally forget that the shaft need to be angled if you still are using radical seats.. Β

Why didnt you sandblast the frame while you allready got it stripped down? Looks much better straught away;)

Β

but how to get hold on that hot climate front????? Where to buy

Robert, I probably should have blasted it but I couldn't find any areas that looked bad. This is an old race car, not a show car for me, so I'm just trying to keep it in good shape, not restore it. I did look for cracking though.Β

I'm afraid I don't understand the second part of your question. Can you please clarify?Β

To my knowledge the car has always been a LHD car. It came out of Spring Mountain 2 owners ago so if it was ever converted I'm assuming they knew how to do it??Β

Curious about the angle though. Can you explain that so I can go look?Β

If its oem LHD then its ok, i thought you rebuild it, since you asked about the steering column bracket;)

Β

we have a car here in norway that was built from rhd to lhd.. and they did a major bummer when they did the job. Forgetting that you are sitting a bit angled to the driving direction.. so they put the steering column damn straight.. so the wheel is now totall OFF the correct seat position;)

Β

Β

your front clam is from a high climate kit;) the opening in the front is so awesome! I wish i could buy one for my turbo rad😍😍

Ok I'm with you now. In the past I've driven BMWs which often have the driver at a slight angle to the wheel so if it was bad I can only imagine how much I wouldn't want to drive that.Β

Oh yes the hot climate package! I was excited when I saw that the car John was selling had this since I knew, like you, I wasn't going to stay stock. I wish Radical still commonly sold these (not sure maybe they still have the molds to make new ones?-Charley?). That would definitely be nice for you to have that "big" radiator up front to battle the heat soak.Β

For me would just be for the looks. Dont know if there is any aero benefits from it maby?

Β

im lucky i have no heat issues at all.. my engine is up and running into operating temp in 5mins, and can be kicked around the track for hours without any heat problems. And never gets heatsoaked either.. 3 rads, 2 electric pumps and a good tune is alpha omega.Β

my biggest issue is the heat under the rear clam that doesnt come out.. Β my headers build up heat and it goes nowhere while standing? So i had to make ekstra vents to let heat go straight up while standingΒ

Β

this way also more air comes in..

so far looks allready much better. My IAT IS STABILE AT 30c but all that heat inside fools the sensor up to 50-60c even my air inside is much colder

@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com Β ooof..looks awesome! if he only would sell the front clam.. its easier for me to modify the one i allready have. Few hours with fiberglass and were there hehe

Β

but now i also see the sifference in high DF. Sideskirts.. what makes the difference when they are so much wider in the end?

@lunatic, the high downforce side pods work together with the front high downforce front splitters. Β TheHD front splitters have diffusers in front of each front wheel that create low pressure areas. Β The HD side pods allow the air coming through the diffuser to rapidly escape the wheel well area which makes the front downforce higher.

@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com Β i know that about sidepods.. but the sideskirts.. they are much wider underneeth.. looks like they are pushing air away from the rear wheel?

@lunatic, Yes, your are correct.Β  The side skirts on the High downforce cars are wider in the back and extend inward.Β  There is a aerodynamic "fence" molded into the bottom of the HD splitters which steers the airflow inboard of the tire and directs it onto the rear diffuser.Β  The "fence is about .5" tall but it is common for these to get ground down from driving over curbs, so it is a good idea to build them up occasionally.Β

I don't have a picture of the bottom of the side skirt, but in these pictures you can see that the back of the High Downforce side skirts is much sider that on the Standard Downforce side skirts (as you said).

Side skirt high df
Side skirt std df

Been making some progress. The car came with a set of wheels but the inner barrel of both back wheels was said to have a bend in them. I can't see it by eye but have no reason to doubt it. So I got new inner barrels and some other spares to have 4 good wheels now.Β

I also finally found some time to go pluck a donor engine. No idea on the state of this thing but I suspect not good because the water looked like a milkshake. Hopefully the block and head aren't ruined because everything else will get replaced anyway. It came out of an Acura TSX so it's a K24-A2, which is the one you want because it has oil squirter in it. Any k24 would be fine though since I'm planning a full rebuild.Β

You can tell I got this from a salvage yard because of using the seatbelts as lifting straps. Shamed to say not the first time I've done that trick but it works!

Now I will try a rough mockup and see what needs to change on the car to accommodate the engine.Β
