I have searched all over the Radical website and could not find any examples of what this telemetry looks like and how it is of benefit.  Each of these options are pricey.  I would have thought there would be more detail available.  Has anyone optioned these or used them?  If so, please post a few shots of what the telemetry looks like.

Thanks in advance.

I briefly discussed this option with Sean at Spring Mountain.  I wish I could provide you with more specifics but we quickly came to the conclusion it was not worth the money.  It came down to I am not a good enough driver to get any real value from that level of precision.

Thanks John, I appreciate the reply.  I have asked my local Radical distributor and they have not sold the options and hence do not have any sample telemetry to share.  I also sent an inquiry to the regional Radical rep but have heard nothing back yet.  I will post whatever I find out.

@johnannz Very exciting!  I have to wait until October for mine.  Where is your home track?

I have been there, only for a visit, not on track.  I am not too far from you.  At my summer home here in Idaho.

Found the video on youtube.  Very informative re suspension dampers and analysis.  I think I may option this on my new SR10 before the order locks.

Just found this video on laser ride height.  Question is does the laser ride height option obviate the need for the suspension sensor logging.

Laser sensors are horribly expencive and is really overkill. You can do it easy way with adding height sensor to your suspension and program the height as max and minimun and from that you can also calculate weight of the downforce.  They simply look like this

Simple linear potentiometer

@lunatic So Robert, you would advocate the suspension sensor logging option for $2400 spec-d new from factory for my build?

All depend on hos much you wanna spend, i know for my ecu i have aviable inputs, so all i need i 4 of this sensors price tag of 800$ and the rest is just calibration and math..

but ive seen those laser kits here on a porche. NOT cheap. Fancy tho

John -

I would love to but as the caregiver for the mrs, I do not have a hall pass.  I only get one when back in CA and one of the kids take over my duties.  But thanks for the invite.

Phil

I asked RaceCraft HQ if the laser sensors obviated the need for the suspension sensors.  Here is what he said:

Hi Phil, they are both useful in their own ways, but in brief- The laser ride heights are of most use to understand the ride height, rake and roll of the chassis, largely for aerodynamic reasons. Anything with a powerful underfloor falls into this category. Because they are directly measuring the ride height and inculcation of the floor, they also include tyre deflection. Damper pots on the other hand are only measuring the deflection between the chassis and each corner of the suspension. So they are primarily useful for understanding the suspension movement of that corner of the car. This makes bump stop engagement, damping and frequency domain analysis possible. There are many times you don't have or aren't allowed laser ride height, so in these cases you are forced to try and learn more with damper pots alone - estimating ride height (requires some model of tyre deflection), roll and pitch as well as things like downforce. While there is some crossover between laser ride height and damper pots I would definitely say that they have quite distinct applications as well, hope that helps 🙌 - Tim
