help identifying electrical module
I am still very new to the Radical platform so I thought this would be the appropriate section to post this question. Can anyone identify this module? Is is Radical or aftermarket? It was attached with velcro to a panel in the driver side cockpit (by your knee). The wire is there. It was unplugged. Not sure if it was unplugged the whole time or I pulled it loose fiddling with things. To trace wires I have pull some panels so I thought I would post here first ;). I pulled the cover off it and that didn't provide any clues.
Hi Walter (@walteriv), Welcome to the Registry! That is an aftermarket control unit for a stand alone shift light. It is a very nice unit that several Radical dealers install. So your car either has a stand alone shift light or it had one at some point.
Here are some pictures of what the light looks like installed and a picture of the unit with the plug that fits into it. If you look in the area where you found the box you will likely find the matching plug.
I do in fact have that shift light. So mystery solved! Thank you so much.
In your pict I may see a mounting bracket for the bullet light. I would love to score one of those. Any idea what the brand is?
@walteriv, The lights are made by Raptor Performance. Here is a link to the part you need. https://www.raptorperformance.com/products/shift-light-brackets?variant=740488209. Due to the space constraints in the Radical Raptor uses one of their warning lights and then puts the electronics to control it in the box you have. Their standard offerings in their catalog have the electronics built into the shift light.
The piece that holds the light is attached with a piece of 90 degree angle cut to size and then is riveted to the dash.
@walteriv, Let me know if you need a copy of the shift light installation / wiring instructions. Apparently Raptor doesn't keep them on their website anymore.
Charley
I would love a copy if you have one on hand. I would want to verify settings or be able to adjust to my liking in conjunction with the AiM lights.
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com This is proving useful, thank you again. I was able to trace the rpm input wire back to the engine bay where I discovered its not connected to anything! Is there a commonly used RPM pickup off the ECU harness or the coil?
Regardless, I need to wire it properly. Last time I did this I probably used the AiM rpm pickup or an output on a more modern AiM dash or a different type of ECU.
