Even something which i thought would be a super simple job turns out to be a problem!

I removed Oetiker ear clamps (15900005/15900007) off the driveshaft boots, and bought some replacement works exactly the same type.

The smaller one especially is proving to be a total pain, they are quite stiff, and so to try and get it to be seated tightly around the boot first, before then getting the ear clamp pliers, is proving to be rather difficult.

On top of that, the oetiker clamps i bought are rubbish too, and not applying the same amount of pressure either side.

Are you guys using the same clamps, or are there better and easier alternatives?

I think you have the wrong part number and size.  You need 7mm width, not 8.5mm.

For SR3, I use this:

Oetiker Stepless 7mm Band (16700042)
Oetiker Stepless 7mm Band (16700085)

Also, no need to remove the small clamps unless you need to replace the boot.

@davidf they are definitely 7mm wide, it's a like for like part that came off the car and i checked the specs etc.

looks like the part numbers are a bit different in the US maybe.

thanks, i'll try those instead, they make far more sense coming in the required size already, rather than trying to force and bend it into shape!

well, i removed them to drop the boot down so i could more easily clean and apply the new grease.
