Hello from NH
Hey all,
Greetings from NH. I'm here to learn as much as I can about the Radical Platforms from actual owners and work towards making a decision on a car between now and late winter / early spring 2024.
About me, used to race with SCCA / COMSCC here in the Northeast as well as FUSA/CSS motorcycle racing. Current fun car is a 991.2 GT3 (6spd) but have been severely bitten by the racing bug again. I will be signing up for the Primal Racing school as we get into the new year to get some seat time in an SR-1.
My goal is to get the ultimate track day car and do not plan on racing again. (I said the same thing when I bought my first street bike. That lasted a season and was then dragging knees for 6 years)
Of the Radical line up, I like the SR-3 but the SR-1 has an appeal as well. I'm also considering the Rush SR-1 and While I know they are vastly different, will be getting seat time in each in the coming months. I'd like to make a decision based on overall experience. Fun factor, cost of ownership, events and community.
I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from the members here, and may ask a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for your patience.
All the best,
Scott

@grouparacing Thanks! I’ll give you call either later today or sometime mid day tomorrow. Gotta wrap up a work thing.
Hi Scott (@smajor6761), Welcome to the Registry! Once you send some time in a Radical it is hard to appreciated almost any other car. I am glad that Jonathan spoke up, because that is where I was going to recommend you go. Also, if you haven't read it yet, take a look at the SR3 Buyers Guide in the Resource Library. It should be helpful to understand how the cars have changed over time. Both the SR1 and SR3 are fantastic cars, but there are reasons why the SR3 is the most popular Radical ever built (by a large margin). Regarding the SR1... Every SR1 owner I have know said they loved the car, but couldn't wait to move into the SR3. In my opinion it is worth going directly to the SR3 to start, unless you want to race in an SR1 series somewhere.

@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com Thanks Charley. I just got off the phone with Jonathan. He spent an hour answering questions and just being an incredible resource. While there is a ton of information to consider, the community of Radical owners and (Dealers in Jonathan's case) is very impressive so far. Next thing I need to do is book seat time. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can on this as I make my decision.
With the help of Jonathan Scarallo from Group A Racing. I bought this 2021 SR3 XX 1340 out of Apex Motorclub in AZ. The car has had this wrap removed and will be getting a fresh look when it gets to NH. I'm going to be attending the Primal Racing School to get my first dose of high downforce driving. I'll also be working with Jonathan as time permits for coaching and driver analysis. I plan on campaigning the car in SCCA P2 and possibly a few NASA Events, the ultimate goal is to get into the Radical Cup in the coming years. Not sure if the budget will allow me to, but its worth trying.
While I am incredibly excited, I cannot say thank you enough to Jonathan. His patience, professionalism and guidance throughout this process has been incredible. Many late night texts, millions of questions answered, multiple hour long phone calls, and ability to deal with my 47 year old "Kid Brain" through all of this is a testament to his success in this industry!

@smajor6761, congratulations on getting this beautiful car! I am looking forward to hearing about your progress with the car.
I took delivery yesterday. While the offloading of the car on the trailer was a bit of an adventure, my 2021 SR3 XX is now safe in garage. Chassis number 1307 is now a Granite Stater!
I'm honestly shocked at how well I fit in the car.
Race Ramps. Ridiculously expensive for what they are, and worth every penny.
@speedsmith Yeah, I'll be ordering some soon. That was the shipping companies set up. We made it work.
@smajor6761 Cheap homemade ramps. A little plywood and a saw. Long enough to pull the car up without removing any bodywork. Mine are 9 1/2 long and fit under the trailer ramp to make a smooth transition.
