I was running a TTD Miata with Nasa Rocky Mountain region. It was a car that I converted from scratch to a track car (it is now in the SuperMiata series). But things like wheel bearings that weren't designed for  big sticky tires worried me. So my search for a "factory" racing car began. Cost was one of my factors,  I believe that you must be willing to leave it in a tire wall and walk away from it financially without crying too much. The pace of the car should fit my ability.

The SR1 seemed to fit those requirements. Also the 13" tires cost less than the bigger car tires. Also the Hayabusa engine fits with my motorcycle history. It looked like it would fit nicely into the pace of the NP01 that were popular here. So I found one in the U.K., Bought it, and then the NP01s' went away.

The car generates lots of interest at the races and many positive comments. The open top gives you a better feeling of going fast. I am enjoying the experience, both driving and maintaining it.

Thanks for starting a place place on the web for us to share our enthusiasm for Radical Sportscars.

Thank you for joining!  The SR1 sounds like a great car for your needs.  Have you added it to the Radical Registry yet?  I would like to see some pictures.

You put it in there for me!

Do you have a link that shows how to upload photos?

To upload photos to a post use the "Attach Files" button at the bottom left of the "make a Post" or " Reply" box.  To add pictures to the Registry you can select the "Add Car to Registry" button on the Home page, or select "Ad Car to Registry" on the "Registry pull down menu from the "Main Menue"....Or you can use this link (which is the same place the other options bring you)  https://radicalsportscarregistry.com/add-car-to-registry/ .

Let me know if you have any challenges.

Thanks,

Charley

Now I remember.... You have SR100027.  That is a beautiful car.  I especially like the www.TrackHQ.com sticker on your rear wing (one of my favorite sites) 🙂

Graeme, your story sounds like mine, and, I suspect, like a lot of Radical owners. My interests came via old muscle cars to Corvettes, to a track-only Z06 'Vette. I too got tired of fixing things like wheel bearings and throwout bearings, and $1600 for a set of tires, etc.

Now I fix things like hacked coolant pump wiring and over-aggressive upshifts. 🙂

I love my SR1. I had a race last weekend with NASA RM at Pueblo Motorsports park. Even though I run in the SU class against stock cars, the car is competitive with them. It's hard to imagine the two completely different types of cars can compete together. I speak with the other drivers about being able to see me in my low car, and how tight we can race, and everyone understands what's possible. so far the racing with them has been very good. Now lapping the other cars has been exciting on occasion.

Maybe the SR1 will become a more common car here in the states.

Graeme - hit me up when you head out again.  getting my SR3 back soon - wasn't in a hurry.  Additionally, had a "little" get off on the motorbike at HPR T4 which will put me out of anything for a while
