Crash Damaged SR1 Rebuild + Upgrade
Here's the biplane - we had to modify the stock end plates. Haven't tested to see what it does yet. Pleasantly surprised the stock uprights worked with the wing out of the box, so it's an easy change. The rear diffuser we will have to cut to size and do some fab for the mounts to get it on the car.
@markspeed, The wing looks great! The bi-plane looks like a pretty straight design, did it come from an SR3? Most I have seen on the Carbon wings have more of a curved teardrop shape to them
Regarding the diffuser, are you using one from an SR3 or an SR4? I would think an SR4 diffuser would bolt right up because they are basically the same car (but I am not positive of that since your car is a gen 2 SR1 and the SR4 are the same as the Gen 1 SR1s)

We couldn't get the SR4 parts although we tried. There was some talk of a one off from the original mold from the factory for the rear diffuser but things went silent (covid etc) and we were able to get the others off the shelf right away.
These are the newer tear drop wing/winglet; the darkness in the photos makes it hard to see. Part numbers:
- Wing Main Plane Carbon - MW0034/C4
- Bi Wing Carbon Winglet - MW0035/C4
We had the chance to test this briefly on Friday and saw a significant improvement in downforce at speed. We're hoping to work on the diffuser this week to and continue to tweak the bi-plane. We also need to look at reinforcing the uprights for it as we're a little concerned on the stock SR1 set up with the added downforce... the last thing you want is the wing to come off at speed!
Rear diffuser on! Have not had a chance to run it yet - will this weekend. I expect it will add at least twice the downforce of the biplane.
Here's a better view
As far as installing - not too big of a deal although there's no real guide I could find. I've seen pictures of one other SR1 with a rear diffuser. We ended up having to trim the sides of this to get it between the wheels.
The biggest missing piece on the SR1 Gen2 is there is no "lip" for the diffuser to slide onto. Problem solved with this aluminimum L bracket:
The radical provided rear mount works well:
We were hesitant to just use the two front mounts provided and ended up installing them with spacers a bit further back, as we had the new bracket to support the front weight of the diffuser. Overall it feels solid and doesn't allow for any specific stress points.
Excited to see the results and will report back after we've been able to run the car!
That came out great @markspeed! This is worthy of a separate post so others can find it in the future.
