Does anyone have oil cooling problems with 85-88 degree weather?  Ran a race this weekend and almost had to back off the throttle to keep temperatures safe.  Oil temp hit 110c.  Luckily the track went double yellow and after a few laps behind the pace car I had the opposite problem.  Temps dropped to 80c and I was concerned about getting back in it when we were green again if it dropped lower.

Only had the car for a short while and as I race mostly in the upper Midwest we normally only need to worry about the car being warm enough.

Unrestricted opening on oil.  Car is 2013 SR3 RS with 1500.  I was running close to the car in front but not directly in a draft.  Wouldn't think that would matter as these cars draw air from the side and not the front.

The only temperature challenges I ever had was getting enough heat in the engine.  I never experienced oil temperatures that were too high.  Do you have a cooling fan on the car?  As you likely already know, the recommended method for adjusting airflow into the radiators is to put strips of duct tape over the air  inlets to the radiators.  I found that 1.5 strips on the outer side of the inlets was the coverage that worked best for me.  If you haven’t done it recently, it might be worth removing the inlet screens and making sure the area is clean.  You would be surprised how much tire rubber ends up in front of the radiators.  😳

Thanks Charley.  I've had the left side off multiple times now but never the right where the oil cooler is.  I'll be pulling the screen off to check the radiator to make sure there aren't any obstructions.

I have a fan on the water side but not oil.  Do some run a fan on the oil radiator as well?  Is there a connection to the harness on that side?
