@garagenwerke had similar problems with my SR3 charging. The stator should be putting out circa 80v AC that feeds into your rectifier/regulator that should then output circa 14.5v DC to your battery.
I had to fit a new stator, rectifier / regulator to mine in addition to replacement charging loom. I’m now looking to relocate location of rectifier as it can’t release enough heat in the stock position of engine bay.
Also double check wiring connectors in the charging system, as often get corroded and cause problems
its correct. , first sign of not charging as it should is the overheat issue.. Cables melting and rectifier gets Really hot = its burned. but not due to the engine heat.
easy way to burn it, is to disconnet the rectifier from your battery and start your engine. will burn it up in 5 sec. it needs to release the voltage coming in. my rectifier is still in oem position. still even after 1h driving its still not overheating. its new,and hardwired
Hi Guys!
Finally everything is working / ithink / as it should and i made to drive a complete trackday with my radical together with the other guys of the garge 🙂
Some pictures for you attached.
The Golf is build by myself / with / for a good friend. It's quite fast and 100% custom. The beer is of course AFTER! all driving 😉
Thank you for all your help!!! Coming tuesday is the next afternoon / evening trackday for the Radical.
Congratulations, the car looks great!
Hey, thank you for the compliments 🙂
Attached some roling shots from last weekend. I hope for good weather on sunday ... buuuuuut it looks not good for sunshine 🙁
Hi Robert,
yes, it's Meppen Track. Do you know it?
I had another Trackday again on Bilster Berg, without any! problems, but! the car is to loud. I had problems with fuel cuts when shifting in high gears / mph. So i need to check my mapping to avoid thouse bangs when downshifting.
@garagenwerke i was supposed to drive there last year, but the rain hitus pretty well. So we went to the nurburgring and zandvoort with peter;)
the bangs you have can come from fuel overrun or ignition retardation when gearing. You should only have ign. Cut. But again you need OBD and easimap to enter the ecu. You still havent got it ??
Hi Robert,
i ordered it. My car's are located 120km away from me :/ so hopefully i am back in the garage next weekend, than i will try as discussed to get in the ecu.
Hey Robert,
Unfortunately not. I will try to do some in Oschersleben raceway end of September.
We need to see some action;) not pit-queens 😂😂😂😂😂❤️
so much thanks AGAIN for Robert,
he sold me a 944 MBE and trained me 24/7 how to access via OBD Mod and so on. Actually everything worked, so again a nice upgrade for my old SR3. Now with OBD and full access to the ECU 🙂
Next week is the next Trackday where i can test the new software from Robert which is installed @ the ecu. I promise to make some videos for you guys 🙂
Hell yeah! Make that puppy scream! Just make sure to log if you can. My map
can be little bit different on your engine due to outside temperatures/altitudes and so on;k)
